Dr. David Brown named Interim Chair of the Department of Humanities, Health and Society

Dr. David Brown is associate professor and chief of Family and Community Medicine within the Department of Humanities, Health and Society at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

A board-certified family physician and educator, Brown joined FIU in March 2009 and played a lead role in the development of the Green Family Foundation Neighborhood Health Education Learning Program. NeighborhoodHELP is an interprofessional community-engaged household-centered program integrating social and behavioral care with primary care. 

Brown also launched the family medicine residency-training program at the West Kendall Baptist Hospital, and is a leader in the AAMC Core Entrustable Professional Activities for Entering Residency Pilot.

Apart from these leadership roles, he has helped develop longitudinal medical student curricula in clinical skills, motivational interviewing, family medicine, and integrating clinical, social, behavioral, and health system sciences in health care.
