Dr. Raisa Miller is the new director of the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s Master in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program. She will be responsible for the management and accreditation of the program, and faculty and student success.

Miller was appointed after a national search. She succeeds founding director,
Dr. Pete Gutierrez, who retired in October 2019. She had been serving as interim director since his retirement.

“Dr. Miller has deep and diverse experiences in clinical practice and academic matters, including student support, mentorship, and curriculum development,” said Dr. Eneida Roldan, associate dean for MPAS. “She also has expertise in clinical trial design and implementation.”

Miller is a certified physician assistant. She holds a Doctorate of Medical Science Degree from Lynchburg University, and a Master of Public Health degree from Nova Southeastern University.

The HWCOM MPAS is a 27-month long program launched in 2015 to address the nationwide shortage of physicians. The first class graduated in 2017. The program currently has 135 physician assistant students.
