Castellanos named FPS Practioner of the Year

The Florida Psychiatric Society (FPS) has named Dr. Daniel Castellanos its 2021 Practitioner of the Year.

The award recognizes Castellanos’ years of volunteer service in statewide administrative and legislative initiatives and community-based organizations.

Castellanos is the founding chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He also serves as assistant dean for Graduate Medical Education. Castellanos has been a tireless educator and advocate seeking to increase awareness of and reduce the stigma of mental illnesses and advances in treatment. He focuses on promoting prevention and appropriate mental health care for our most vulnerable population, child welfare-involved youth.

FPS is the professional organization for all Florida psychiatrists from Key West to Pensacola. It is a district branch of the American Psychiatric Association.
