New roles for Dr. Amalia Landa-Galindez and Dr. Jorge Camilo Mora

Two of our faculty members are taking on new and vital roles at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

Dr. Amalia Landa-Galindez has graciously agreed to serve as Interim Chair of the Department of Translational Medicine. 

Dr. Landa-Galindez is an internist specializing in primary disease prevention, women’s health, and cardiovascular and rheumatologic disorders. In addition to her new role, she will continue serving as Division Chief for Internal Medicine and Internal Medicine Clerkship Director. Her loyal patients will be glad to hear that Dr. Landa-Galindez will continue her clinical practice at the FIU Faculty Group Practice.

Dr. Jorge Camilo Mora has been appointed Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. Dr. Mora will develop department-specific promotion guidelines in this new role and build on existing faculty career development programs. In addition, he will work closely with Dr. Suzie Minor, Assistant Dean for Faculty Development, to advance our organization, development efforts, and impact on faculty.

Dr. Mora is board-certified in family medicine and geriatrics and was recently named the 2021 American Geriatrics Society Outstanding Mid-Career Clinician Educator of the Year. He will continue to serve asDirector of Geriatric Medical Education, Strand Leader for Professional Development, and Director of Clinical Nutrition.
