Naomi D. Nixon joins FIU Medicine as head of Development

As the new associate dean for Development at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Naomi D. Nixon, will oversee the college’s fundraising, donor stewardship, and alumni engagement.

Nixon’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the College of Medicine, which recently partnered with Baptist Health in a transformative alliance that will enhance medical education, research, and patient care. “Our partnership with Baptist Health is ushering in a new era of expansion for the College of Medicine. And Naomi possesses the expertise that will be key to meeting our growth and fundraising objectives,” said Dr. Juan C. Cendan, dean and senior vice president for Health Affairs. 

With over two decades of experience in fundraising, Nixon brings an impressive track record of leading teams and campaigns that exceeded goals. Her previous roles include senior major gifts officer at the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, founder and president of NDN Advisors, and associate vice president for Strategic Philanthropy at the University of Miami. She holds a law degree from George Washington University.
